About

I grew up , like many, with National Geographic magazine as a mainstay in our home. I started taking photos about 20 years ago on our first backpack trip to Asia. I originally started shooting with the dream of being a photojournalist but eventually realized that I wasn't  specifically motivated or inspired by the lifestyle enough to pursue this line of work. I really enjoy photography more in a casual, non professional means in which I can express my artistic inclination.

As you can see in my "work", I am inspired to capture images largely while I'm travelling or outdoors. My motivation to shoot comes and goes and I have come to accept this, rather than force it. I enjoy it this way and I am inspired by travel, culture, wildlife, landscapes, art, music and the abstract.

I enjoy sport: running, biking, paddling, cross training, hiking, rugby, dog sledding and cross country when the opportunity presents. I'm an avid hunter and fisher, I mushroom pick, garden and really enjoy the process of growing and acquiring my own food. I believe in taking responsibility for as much as possible in what I/we eat.

I have worked in a pulp/paper/saw mill, as a remote camp fish guide, truck driver , photographer, construction worker, first aid attendant, and now, currently, fire suppression professional. I have traveled throughout Canada, Mexico, US, Thailand, India, Nepal, Laos, Sri Lanka, England, Ireland, Wales, France, Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, Germany and Iceland.

I live and work in Victoria, BC with my beautiful wife Kelly and our new best pup, Logan.
